Who is this service for?

Eligibility: Women aged 16 to 64 years old.
Condition: Suspected uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI).
Exclusions: Men, pregnant women, history of frequent urine infections and children are not eligible for this specific Pharmacy First pathway and should consult a GP.

Consultation: You will have a private consultation with a highly trained pharmacist
which includes taking a patient history.
Assessment: The pharmacist will review your symptoms and medical history to determine if treatment is appropriate.
Treatment options
If the pharmacist confirms an uncomplicated UTI that requires treatment, they can supply medication directly.
Antibiotics: A short course of oral antibiotics can be prescribed if clinically appropriate.
Symptom Relief: Recommendations for over-the-counter painkillers or cystitis relief sachets to manage discomfort.
Self-Care Advice: Guidance on increasing fluid intake and other hygiene measures to help clear the infection and prevent recurrence.
