Free NHS & Private Flu Vaccination Services At Saood Pharmacy
Protecting yourself also protects your loved ones and our community. At Saood Pharmacy, we offer both free NHS flu jabs and a convenient private vaccination service to ensure everyone can stay healthy throughout the winter season.
What is the Flu Vaccine?
The flu vaccine is a safe and effective way to protect yourself against the most common strains of influenza. Because the flu virus changes every year, getting vaccinated annually is the best way to maintain your immunity and reduce the risk of serious illness.
NHS Flu Vaccination (Free)
You may be eligible for a free NHS flu jab if you are at higher risk of complications from the virus. We provide this service to help the most vulnerable members of our community stay safe.
Who is eligible?
While the NHS updates criteria annually, you are typically eligible for a free jab if you: *
- Are aged 65 or over.
- Are pregnant.
- Have certain long-term health conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease, chronic kidney/liver disease).
- Are a frontline health or social care worker.
- Are the main carer for an older or disabled person.
*Please note: Eligibility criteria for the free NHS flu vaccination service are determined by the NHS and are subject to change over time. To ensure you have the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding your eligibility for a free jab, we always advise phoning our pharmacy team or visiting us in person for a quick consultation.
Private Flu Vaccination
If you do not qualify for a free NHS jab, you can still protect yourself through our Private Flu Service. This is ideal for working professionals, students, or anyone who wants the peace of mind that comes with being vaccinated.
Eligibility: Available to most adults and children aged 12 and over (subject to a brief health screening).**
**Please note: Eligibility criteria for the Private flu vaccination service are subject to change over time. To ensure you have the most accurate and up-to- date information regarding your eligibility for a private jab, we always advise phoning our pharmacy team or visiting us in person for a quick consultation.
What to Expect: The Process
We’ve designed our service to be as quick and comfortable as possible. Here is how it works:
Book your Appointment
You can book online through our portal or simply walk into the pharmacy to book.
Consultation
Before the jab, our pharmacist will have a brief, private chat with you to check your medical history and answer any questions.
The Vaccination
The jab is a quick injection into your upper arm. Most people only feel a tiny pinch!
Aftercare
We may ask you to wait in the pharmacy for 5–10 minutes afterward just to ensure you feel fine. You’ll receive an aftercare leaflet with tips on managing any mild side effects, like a sore arm or a slight fever.
How to Prepare for Your Appointment
To make your visit as smooth as possible, we recommend the following:
Wear Appropriate Clothing: Please wear short sleeves or loose-fitting clothing so we can easily reach your upper arm.
Bring Your Details: If you have your NHS number handy, it helps us update your records faster (though don’t worry if you can’t find it).
Arrive on Time: Try to arrive 5 minutes before your slot to complete any
necessary paperwork.
Be Prepared to Wait: We ask all patients to remain in the pharmacy for about 5–10 minutes after the injection to ensure you feel 100% before leaving.
Disclose Allergies: Make sure to tell the pharmacist or the team if you have any allergies (especially to eggs) or if you have felt unwell recently.
